Origin-: Derived from the name of the ancient Greek town Chalkedon in Asia Minor.
Varieties-: Chalcedony, Chalcedony “Moonstone”,Chrysoprase, Carnelian, Bloodstone or Heliotrope, Prase, Agate, Onyx, Jasper, Plasma, Chrysocolla Chalcedony, Agatized Wood.
Color-: Colorless, Blue, Lavender, White Buff, Tan, Grey, Yellow, Pink, Red or Brown.
Streak-: White.
Hardness-: 6.5 to 7 with the trigonal crystal structure.
Zodiac Sign-: Cancer, Virgo, Sagittarius, Libra and Aquarius.
Transparency-: Semi-Transparent to opaque.
Luster-: Dull to waxy on rough surfaces; greasy on polished stones.
